Paid automatically each June to people already getting Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance. Other full-time carers must apply.

Who can get Carer's Support Grant

  • You must be providing full-time care and attention.
  • You must be aged 16 or over and living in Ireland.
  • You cannot work, study or volunteer for more than 18.5 hours a week.
  • You can claim a separate grant for each person you care for.

Is Carer's Support Grant means tested?
